Review: Thai Green Leaf

Tried out the East Northport sibling of this restaurant (the other one is in Massapequa). The menu is relatively extensive, but offers pretty much American-mainstream-Thai fare. Plenty of curry-free choices, which was just fine with me.

The price is reasonable: appetizers average around $5, entrees around $12. The shrimp dumplings in a ginger dipping sauce was adequate, nothing special. The Gai Pad Kieng Ginger Chicken (basically, chicken with ginger over mixed vegetables) was the same. Decent, but it won't bowl you over with flavor.

Several dishes offer "black fungus." We got a kick out of that. It's a large, paper-thin mushroom. We suggested they get a different Thai-English dictionary.

The Jericho location, at least, is tiny. Went with some buddies on a Friday night in the early evening. It was packed, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. But by 7:30 the place was deserted.

I'd try other Thai places before going back. 1 1/2 stars.
